| How You Can Help We would love to have you as part of our team this year (2009), and look forward to hearing from you. This year the Letter Carriers will be collecting toys on Saturday, December 5th. This will be our busiest collection day, and we can use as many volunteers as possible. In addition to leaving a new, unwrapped toy for your letter carrier to bring to us, or bringing on to any of our many collection sites, there are varieties of ways in which you can help throughout this year’s campaign:
· We always need drivers - from the earliest stages of the campaign. We plan to deliver collection boxes in early November, and need volunteers to assist. We will need ongoing help in delivering boxes to and picking toys up from collection sites throughout the campaign.
· If you have office or computer skills, you can be of assistance to our coordinators, by contacting donors, clients, and/or collection sites, and by helping with data entry and mailings.
· The greatest use of our time is sorting the toys and preparing the site for distribution. This task requires physical agility and begins with Letter Carriers' Day on December 5th.
· We are looking for shift supervisors. These would be individuals with management or supervisory experience or skills, willing to commit to four- or five- hour shifts.
· If you have friends or family in the retail or food-service industry, you can assist by encouraging them to help us in whatever way they can -- by providing toys in special need, such as for teens or infants, or of items needed by our group, such as office supplies, trash bags, or food for our volunteers.
· During distribution, volunteers will be needed to manage clients waiting in line, escort clients through distribution, assist in registration, re-stocking, etc.
Please, think about how you would like to help this year, and e-mail us at leslie@toysfortotspinellas.org, With “Volunteers 2009” in the subject line.
