Each year, thousands of Marines and volunteers nationwide strive to provide toys to needy children at Christmas. Here in Pinellas County, the USMC Reserves Toys for Tots drive is coordinated by Friends of Toys for Tots and sponsored by Marine Corp. League Major B.F. Hickey Post #57.
In 2008, in Pinellas County alone, we were able to give toys to over 9,500 children, with the help and support of many businesses and individuals in the community We would not be able to accomplish such a large undertaking each year without the generous support of our local community.
The holiday season is nearing, and we hope this website can assist you in learning more about our organization. Friends of Toys for Tots is a local non-profit organization that has been assisting the USMC Reserve in providing Christmas toys to needy children in Pinellas County for many years.
Operated by volunteers only, Friends of Toys for Tots organizes the local toy drive, participating in special events and parties, raising awareness of the need for Christmas toys, and aids the families in selecting toys for the children during distribution.
Families are referred to our agency through the Pinellas County school system, and through several social service agencies. Through their outreach programs, we hope to provide toys to 2,500 families this year in southern Pinellas County alone.
With the help of local individuals and businesses, we can provide a happier Christmas this year by donating toys, beoming a toy collection site, hosting a benefit, raising awareness and supporting local businesses who continully support Toys for Tots.
Thank you for visiting our website, and we look forward to hearing from you with any questions or concerns you may have!
Merry Christmas!
